Wash the rhubarb stalks and cut into chunks.  Place in pan with a few tablespoons of water and a heaped tablespoon of sugar.  Next add the apple after cutting it into similar sized chunks as the rhubarb.  Once the fruit is softened place in an oven dish and make the topping.  In a mixing bowl rub the margarine and the flour together using your fingers until it looks like breadcrumbs.  Add the remaining sugar and the oats and mix in with a wooden spoon.
